Happy Birthday, MTV! It’s been 30 years since the popular music network launched on August 1, 1981 – and for those there at the start, the passing of time seems hard to believe.
“It’s freaking weird,” original MTV VJ Mark Goodman tells Rolling Stone. “I’ve lived like three lifetimes since then. It’s just so long ago, and yet it also seems like yesterday.”
This Saturday, VH1 Classic will commemorate MTV’s founding with a three-day marathon of footage from the 1980s. Goodman, along with other members of the original VJ team, will also be on Sirius XM this weekend - recreating, musically, the first five hours of MTV.

Lelo’s song ‘Romeo’ killed the Taylor Bright Remix Competition. Lelo is known to friends and family as Aurelio Sanchez. Aurelio is not only an incredible songwriter with an ear for amazing beats, he is a poet, a team cupcake baker and a Capricorn.
We’ve seen Lelo collaborate with artists on BreakoutBand more than once. He says working with AngelinatheGreatness on “Break Me Through” was his first (of many) artist collaboration. Lelo told us that a friend asked if she could bring that song into the studio with her!
Lelo is a hUGE No Doubt fan, even mentioned wanting to work for them in the future. When we asked if that we his dream job, he said yes, but added on his dream of opening up the first cupcakery in Belize, which by the way, is already in the works! Check it out here! Aurelio is quite the inspiration, almost every answer he gave was about being a huge dreamer. He believes that the biggest for of promotion is simply to believe in yourself, he says, “I believe everyone has a dream and that its important for us to hold on to this dream and do all we can to make it come true.”
